I’d love to know, how do you use social media to connect with your women?
Our pastor has asked to be a member of our Facebook group. We have specifically made it for women and I am not sure how to handle this request for him to join the group. He says he is part of every group of the church, but I feel his presence in the group may hinder some from sharing freely. Do I accept him as a member?
Georgia, ulimately, yes, you have to honor his request if he’s requesting access and he’s a part of every group in the church. However, I would request to have a meeting with him FIRST so you can share what the purpose of your group is and why you think his presence could hinder the sharing of prayer requests, discussion, etc. I agree with you – it likely will.
Once you can figure out why he wants to join, you can find ways to address any concerns that he has.
Do you have a communications team at your church? What guidelines have been set in place regarding social media groups? It may be this highlights the need for some guidelines and a discussion with the elders and/or church staff. Once he understands your concerns and purpose, he may agree that his presence is not needed and could be disruptive.
Praying for wisdom for you!
