Should you change your women's ministry's name?

I was blessed to be able to attend a women’s ministry conference at Lifeway earlier this summer.

During one of our discussions this so simple, yet profound, idea was mentioned.

It’s so good and so easy, I want to share it with you so you can add it to your toolbox!

We were discussing various generations and how to stay relevant.

One way to make sure ALL women of ALL ages feel included is to change your women’s ministry’s name.

A lot of us, me included, call our ministries, the “Church Name” Women’s Ministry. IE. Grace Women’s Ministry.

Drop the “Ministry”. Honestly. That’s it.

Grace Women.

Salem Women.

St. Pat’s Women.

Remove the sense that it’s an exclusive club for “older women” of the church.

Some women think they must register or join to be part of the “women’s ministry”.

Eliminate these misconceptions.

Create inclusivity instead of exclusivity.

Be sure to get your team and staff on board before you start changing things up. *wink
